The events began with a social hour beginning at 5 PM at Priebnow’s Maple Inn in Old Ashippun (very appropriate)!  Oh boy, what a mass of classmates!  The graduating class contained 188 students and another 188 of what we know now, as old cars!  Are we really that old?  One hour was too short to meet and speak with over 100 people!  At 6 PM, a buffet was served of fish and chicken.  Most of us were so wired, we could hardly taste the food!  Truly, the meal was superb!  After dinner, the renewing of old (no pun intended) acquaintances continued.

Saturday morning brought another event. A tour of the Oconomowoc and Lake Country Museum. One disappointment here was that the trains were not running. They are mesmerizing when they are running . . . it is a collection worth seeing. We then found some seats in the Museum’s small auditorium and were privy to a board meeting. Following the meeting, we were presented with a narrative and slides on the subject of sailing. Learned some new things about sailboats!

The main event started about 3 hours later.  Held at Rolling Hills Country Club, the social hour began at 3 PM.  All in attendance received a name tag and Gold and Purple beads (our school colors).  Then it was time to find your place at one of the umpteen tables.  One classmate had a very difficult time finding her place . . she had half the class looking for it.  Maybe she needs glasses?  Maybe some of the others need glasses as well?  Another classmate, smoking a cigar, was graciously escorted out of the dining room by still another classmate.

And now the highlight of the evening began. Mr. Tony Rocker did a great impersonation of Elvis Presley !! He sang all the old songs we all had learned the words to from listening to them so frequently. His last song, “Teddy Bear” really stood out. As he bellowed out the song, he reached into a chest on stage and grabbed handfuls of teddy bears from the chest. He then turned around and threw them into the crowd. I lost count on how many times he did this. One complaint though. . all my teddy bear does is sleep! After the show, Mr. Rocker signed hands, picture postcards, napkins or whatever was presented to him.
